HOW DO THEY DO IT? TITLE CONCEPT

How Do They Do It? is a show that about the manufacture of ordinary and everyday objects and the technical processes involved. We’re somewhat detached from the products we use everyday and take for granted the work and skills that are required to bring them to the shop shelves. If you’ve ever wondered how they get a ship in a bottle, put bristles in a brush or put the labels onto ketchup bottles this show is for you.

We were asked to design and animate a new series title concept for the show. Using a combination of typography, 2D and 3D design we were able to deconstruct the words and letters of the logo and apply materials to the individual elements that are reflective of some of the objects and items that are seen during the series. Using the Octane render engine we were able to create a realistic combination of materials, lighting effects and camera moves.

2D elements were extracted from the logo using Illustrator before being imported into Cinema 4D. Materials are applied to the various shapes before being animated together in a final logo reveal. DL Soundworks were keen to jump on board with us to make a soundscape for the titles, adding another level of immersion.
